Yollande's Flavors African Food

Our Story

A Company Rooted in African Tradition

We enjoy helping people rediscover the simple joys of cooking natural, flavorful & healthy meals

Our products represent the seamless fusion between traditional African and Jamaican cuisines. All of our spice blends, handcrafted sauces and traditional foods are developed from family recipes, which have been passed down through generations. And they reflect our passion for both the diversity and authenticity of native foods.

Each product in the Yollande's Flavors line is made with love using the best locally sourced seasonal ingredients available. Our products also serve as the conduit for stories of untapped cultures, of value systems founded in family, community and a love for nature. They are a means to give voice to generations of African people, whose stories have often gone untold.

ABOUT YOLLANDE TCHOUAPI

Yollande Tchouapi is a native of Bantu from the Bamileke tribe of Cameroon in West Africa. As a first-generation immigrant and Queen Mother of a Bamileke tribe by birth (Mafor – a dignitary title representing the authority of Queen Mothers in tribal Africa, specifically in Cameroon), she states, "It is both my responsibility and privilege to represent and serve as an ambassador for my culture and heritage." She is also a self-described dreamer, idealist and food lover, whose life and work is fueled by the cuisine of her ancestors.

She was raised in a family of restaurateurs in a community where meals were not only a source for nourishment, but a means for bonding and social activity. And her upbringing instilled an enduring appreciation for community, a desire to care for others, and a strong sense of cultural identity and pride.

She found her voice through three distinct brands based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin: Yollande's Flavors, a revamp of her signature line Afro Fusion Cuisine, UbuntuMKE, Wisconsin's first cross-cultural think tank and food community, and the relaunch of Irie Zulu, a luxe catering experience. All of her projects are rooted in African tradition with an aim to assist consumers in rediscovering the simple joys of cooking natural, flavorful and healthy meals together. The brands showcase the versatility, uniqueness, heritage, beauty and treasures of tribal Africa through the eyes of a well-traveled native African who now calls Milwaukee home.
